The Art of Timeless Motoring, Technically Delivered
The inaugural Concours d’Elegance Singapore 2026 brought one of the world’s most prestigious automotive traditions to Southeast Asia for the first time. Held at IMBA Theatre, Gardens by the Bay from 13 to 16 August, the event presented a curated gallery of rare classic, vintage, and exotic automobiles alongside immersive cinematic storytelling, concours judging, luxury showcases, car meets, and a gala dinner. Organised in partnership with Hustle & Bustle (H&B), the event was recognised as a FIVA Premier Event — a designation reserved for the most significant motoring heritage gatherings worldwide. As the official technical partner at IMBA Theatre, Expo AV was responsible for the technical support at IMBA Theatre's BlackBox Theatre 1, the venue’s primary performance and presentation theatre, and AVL infrastructure setup at the Gallery — a 1,200-square-metre space that required a ground-up transformation to serve the event’s multi-functional needs.
BlackBox Theatre 1: The Immersive Stage
IMBA Theatre’s BlackBox Theatre 1 served as the centrepiece of the Concours experience. This is where the event’s signature immersive programme came to life — a cinematic journey through legendary Grand Touring routes, brought to audiences through large-scale projection, curated ambienct sound effects that complimented each scenic theme, and storytelling that placed each automobile in the context of the journeys that made them legendary. As IMBA Theatre’s official technical partner, Expo AV provided the seamless technical operation throughout the event’s four-day run.
The Gallery: One Space, Three Functions
The Gallery presented a different kind of challenge. At 1,200 square metres, it is a large, open-plan space that needed to function not as one thing, but as three: a networking venue for collectors, partners, and guests; an exhibition space showcasing rare automobiles, luxury brands, and partner displays; and a presentation environment for a private dinner and programme segments that required stage, screen, and microphone. Expo AV designed and deployed a tailored AVL setup that addressed all three requirements within a single, cohesive technical footprint. Audio coverage was zoned to support ambient music during networking, clear vocal reinforcement during presentations - all without a reconfiguration between modes. Lighting was designed to present the exhibition vehicles under controlled, flattering conditions while retaining the flexibility to shift to a more atmospheric setting for the evening programme. The result was a space that transitioned seamlessly between functions throughout each day, without technical resets or visible changeovers - a setup designed to be invisible to guests but essential to the experience.
