On 23 August 2025, SquareRoom lit up D’Marquee at Downtown East with a night that was more than just a party — it was a time capsule, transporting everyone back into the heartbeat of the 80s and 90s.

A Tribute to an Era

SquareRoom wasn’t simply an event. It was a homage to the legendary Mambo nights that defined a generation. For many in Singapore, those nights were a rite of passage — where music, friendship, and collective memory intertwined. SquareRoom captured that same essence, reminding us that while time moves forward, certain rhythms never fade.

The Showstopper: Lights, Mirrors, and Magic

As the night unfolded, anticipation peaked at the dramatic midpoint. That’s when a synchronised light spectacle, engineered by Expo AV, stole the show. Beams of colour erupted in flawless harmony with the music, refracting off spinning mirror balls and scattering into dazzling constellations across the space.

Icons at the Decks

Carrying the crowd late into the night were two Singapore icons: DJ Aldrin Quek and Leonard T. Known for their artistry and ability to bridge generations of sound, they fused retro anthems with fresh beats, keeping the dance floor alive long after the first tracks dropped. Their set was a living bridge between past and present, reminding everyone why these nights mattered.

Behind the Scenes: Partnerships that Power the Magic

What made SquareRoom more than a party was the seamless collaboration behind the scenes.

  • Expo AV: Delivering world-class audio, visual, lighting, and staging expertise, Expo AV transformed D’Marquee into a sensory playground. Their signature precision turned a venue into an immersive experience.

  • NTUC Club: As a valued partner, NTUC Club provided the perfect canvas in D’Marquee — a spacious, pillar-less design made for immersive parties and large-scale gatherings.

  • Bassis Asia: Adding cultural storytelling and artist representation, Bassis Asia gave the night its energy, depth, and authenticity.

  • The Production Initiative: Managing ticketing and POS operations, TPI ensured a smooth guest experience from entry to encore. Their POS system at the bar kept drinks and beverages flowing, so guests always had refreshments ready as the night came alive.

Together, this partnership elevated SquareRoom from event to experience.

The Spirit of Play

At Expo AV, we believe in more than technology. We believe in the power of Play — in using lights, sound, and staging not just to entertain, but to unite. SquareRoom showed how nostalgia, community, and innovation can converge on a dance floor to create something unforgettable.

Because sometimes, the most powerful way to move forward is to dance together through the past.
